FOUNDER . PSYCHIATRIC MENTAL HEALTH NURSE PRACTITIONER
Vernisha Chambers Douglas
MSN, CRNP, PMHNP-BC
Vernisha Chambers Douglas is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and the founder of MHMATTERS365 LLC (Mental Health Matters 365). Her journey in healthcare began in 2015 after graduating from Troy University — but her passion for mental health was shaped by much more than a degree.
For eight years, she had the honor of serving America's heroes through the Department of Veterans Affairs. Caring for Veterans taught her the importance of listening beyond the symptoms, recognizing the weight people carry, and treating every patient with dignity, compassion, and respect.
Her career later brought her into spaces where the need for mental health care was impossible to ignore — working with vulnerable and underserved populations, including youth involved in the juvenile justice system. She saw children who needed help long before they entered a system, families searching for providers who would accept their insurance, and people waiting far too long for care.
"Mental health does not care about the size of your paycheck."
Anxiety does not ask what you earn. Depression does not check your insurance card. Trauma does not care about your ZIP code, your title, your education, or where you come from. Mental health can affect anyone — and quality care should be accessible to everyone. That belief is what led Vernisha to create MHMATTERS365. In Alabama, our practice proudly serves families covered by Medicaid and ALL Kids, while continuing to expand access across the lifespan.

BEHAVIORAL HEALTH COORDINATOR
Shonquila Williams
MSN, RN
Shonquila Williams supports children, teens, and families by providing compassionate care coordination throughout their mental health journey.
Working closely with the clinical team, Shonquila helps families navigate services, understand next steps, and connect with appropriate community resources. She also assists students and families with navigating the 504 Plan process and identifying school-based supports and accommodations.
Her approach is warm, patient, and family-focused, with an emphasis on advocacy, trust, and continuity of care.

Kerrigan Phillips
Associate Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Kerrigan Phillips provides therapy and counseling services at MHMATTERS365, offering a supportive, client-centered space where individuals and families can feel heard, understood, and supported.
She uses evidence-based and individualized therapeutic approaches to help clients process challenges, develop healthier coping skills, identify solutions, and work toward meaningful personal goals. Her therapeutic approaches include:
When medication management is part of a patient's treatment, Kerrigan works collaboratively with our psychiatric providers to support coordinated mental health care.
OFFICE ASSISTANT
Alison Williams
Patient & Office Support
Alison Williams serves as an Office Assistant at MHMATTERS365, helping create a welcoming, organized, and supportive experience for patients, families, and staff. She assists with day-to-day administrative operations, appointment coordination, patient communication, and general office support.
With a friendly and compassionate approach, Alison understands the importance of making every person who contacts our office feel heard, respected, and valued. She plays an important role in keeping the practice running smoothly while supporting our mission of making quality mental health care more accessible to the communities we serve.
